David Viviano

Former Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano is the founder and managing member of Viviano Mediation Group PLC. He offers decades of experience resolving thousands of complex disputes as a justice, trial judge, and attorney. He is committed to understanding each party’s position, fostering open dialogue, and working tirelessly to achieve fair and equitable settlements.

Former Justice Viviano was appointed to the Supreme Court by former Governor Rick Snyder in 2013 and was re-elected to the court in 2014 and 2016. While on the Court, Justice Viviano authored hundreds of opinions and statements on a wide range of legal topics.

Before serving on the Supreme Court, Former Justice Viviano served as the Chief Judge of the Macomb County Circuit and Probate Courts. He was first elected to the Circuit Court in 2006 and had the privilege of serving on the bench with his father, retired Judge Antonio Viviano, and his sister, Judge Kathryn Viviano. During judicial service, former Justice Viviano earned a distinguished reputation for fairness and integrity.

Prior to taking the bench, former Justice Viviano practiced law at the nationally recognized firms Dickinson Wright and Jenner & Block. His practice concentrated on complex commercial and employment litigation. He later founded his own law firm and served as City Attorney for Center Line.

Former Justice Viviano also works as of counsel attorney at Kienbaum Hardy Viviano Pelton & Forrest PLC. And he serves as Vice Chair of the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority, the board responsible for overseeing the Huntington Place convention center’s operations, finances, and capital projects.
